So you want to adopt a dog – what a wonderful gift you can give to the world! Bosnian dogs are truly special, and if you’re willing to give them a chance, you will be changed forever.

Even though almost all of these dogs have come straight from Bosnia’s streets and only know that life, we still employ a stringent application process. Our goal is to find the “pawfect” forever family for them, and ensure they are the right fit for your family.

If you are interested in adopting, the first step is to read our adoption guide, then complete an adoption application.

Please review our COVID-19 information and ensure you meet our Adoption Requirements before applying.

After we receive your application, we schedule you for a home visit with one of our volunteers. If we don’t have any volunteers near you, we arrange for a “virtual” visit, via Google Meet, Skype, or Facetime with someone from our team. This helps us ensure it will be a “pawfect” match!

Although we don’t have an adoption “fee,” we do require a donation to reimburse us for vaccines, the travel crate (which adopters get to keep), microchipping, and transport. The donation we request is $600 USD*  per dog. This donation is collected when you sign and submit the adoption contract  (*please consider exchange rates and conversions if paying in a currency other than USD).

After receiving your donation, we start fundraising and arranging transport! We have online crowd-funding campaigns for transport costs remaining after your donation.

For your planning purposes, the transport timeline can range from 3 weeks to several months, depending on flight availability, fundraising, etc. Please check with our adoption team to get more timeline info on your specific pet.

Members of our team will keep you constantly updated during your pet's transport.  Then, we all just wait for your pet to arrive safely to you! And the rest is your happily-ever-after with your new Bosnian rescue pup.
