GIDGET

Gidget's life started out under terrible circumstances. Our rescue partner, Nina, found her in a canal after someone had thrown her in. She was just abut 2 months old.

Then, she had the chance of a lifetime when someone in the USA wanted to adopt her! She flew into Washington D.C., and stayed a night with a foster family before going to her new home in PA. The family was already very familiar with Bosnian rescues...as they had one of the originals, Pippa.

After 2 weeks in PA, her new family realized she wasn't the right doggie for them. And, as fate would have it, Pippa's family jumped at the chance to adopt her -- they had fallen in love with her the first night she came!

Gidget is a smart, energetic love bug who aims to please.  I think she knew from the start that she was meant to be with us.

The moment we took her out of her crate after very long and I’m sure scary flight, she immediately crawled into my husband’s lap (instant love between the two of them).  She was taking in all the new sights and sounds, and of course the two strange humans who were doting on her.  She was tired, scared and didn’t know what to think.  We introduced Gidget to her sleep-over buddies (our 4 dogs) and she felt a little more at ease.  The immediate connection she had with my husband was undeniable; he slept on the couch with her to make sure she wasn’t totally overwhelmed.  The next morning, her wonderful transporter came to take her to her forever home. I cried when she left, as she was such a sweetheart.

Bosnian dogs come to us with no real knowledge of love and nurture so it is up to us to show them that we can be trusted and that we have the patience to work with them through their issues. I experienced that with my first Bosnian "foster-fail," Pippa.  When we received the message from Team Tanzie that Gidget's original home wasn't working out, we jumped at the opportunity to foster her again (...foster...who were we kidding??).  Now, after understanding her fears, working to build her confidence and showing her love and trust, Gidget is an extremely well-adjusted part of our pack.  She is simply a smart, energetic love bug that aims to please.  I think she knew from the start that she was meant to be with us, and the bond that she shares with her Bosnian sister Pippa is beyond measure.

Throughout the process, the Tanzie team was extremely easy to work with.  They want the best for these special pups and I know from experience that Katie is there to answer any questions, offer advice, and cares deeply for every Bosnian pup she can save."
