10 Years of #savingbosnianstrays 🐾

Hi everpawdy! What a pawsitively special day here at Tanzie HQ…I may not be smiling like usual but it’s because I simply can’t pawlieve that today marks the 10th Anniversary of The Tanzie Project as a nonprofit! 🥂🎉

While my heart is bursting with pride, today is also bittersweet. I’m missing the ones who helped create this pawesome organization: my Grandparents (Odie and Maya’s human parents), big brother Benji, and big sissy Bella. They were the true backbone of this pawmazing journey, always standing by us through the beautiful chaos of animal rescue life. We feel their handprints and pawprints on everything we do, and hope they’re watching and celebrating this huge milestone with us. 

I’m also so pawpreciative of my Auntie Jenny (our first employee!), our board members (past and present), tireless volunteers, donors, pet pawrents, and rescue partners. A huge paw-pump to Puppy Rescue Mission for bringing over the first group of lucky Bosnians while mommy was still deployed; Dogs on Deployment for selecting me to be the 2017 Military Pet of the Year, R2 the Rescue for adopting 2 of these crazy Bosnian pups, and so many other organizations and people for all the support. Thank you. You are pawsitively the best humans a dog could ask for. 

To my fellow rescue dogs – those on our first ever USA-transport in 2016, the "Fab 5:" Rafo, Lily, Miyu, Miska, and Duncan…and especially the #ProudBosnianRescue pups who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge—your spirits inspire us to keep moving forward with this mission every single day. 🌟 

From a tiny "food raiser" to a global rescue network, Team Tanzie has proven that when we work together, we can make pawmazing impacts in the lives of animals and humans everywhere:

• 🦴 494 Bosnian street dogs rescued and rehomed (359 directly and 135 through rescue partners)

• 🦴 14 Countries across North America and Europe where our rescued pups now nap on couches. 

• 🦴 $350K+ Raised since our very first food drive to fund vaccines, spay/neuter, food, and transport.

While operations the last few years have shifted, our mission remains the same. Here’s to the next chapter of saving lives, one Bosnian rescue dog at a time!
